The Future Leaders United After-School Enrichment and Mentoring Program (FLU) was established in 2015 at Maynard Evans High School and facilitated by the United Foundation of Central Florida, Inc. The program is committed to developing leaders engaged in STEAM education, Leadership Development, College Preparation (tours, FAFSA, enrollment strategies), Career Readiness, and Service Learning Projects. Future Leaders United is the most extensive after-school program at Maynard Evans High School. Using a holistic approach, it was developed to bridge the gaps in our community's educational and mentoring needs.

The Future Leaders United Program is operated by these seven pillars of engagement that are the cornerstone of its one-of-a-kind curriculum:

  1. College Readiness (College Tours, FAFSA Prep,
    Enrollment Strategies, etc.)

  2. Career Preparedness

  3. Health & Wellness (Mental Health, Physical Health,
    Nutrition)

  4. Leadership Development

  5. S.T.E.A.M. Education

  6. Financial Literacy

  7. Life After High School

As of May 2023, the United Foundation of Central Florida, Inc. has mentored over 600 students in and outside the program. One hundred eighty-eight of our students are in college, ten are enrolled in the Military, and two are in the Workforce, trade/vocational school programs. Throughout the academic year, the students of FLU meet with elected officials and other representatives advocating for their community, voicing their opinions on topics such as but not limited to education, transportation, public safety, public health, and wellness, to mention a few. Our students enjoy seeking to learn new things to help teach them to their fellow youth of the community.

Our students of Future Leaders United are servants of the community, committing themselves to Service-Learning Projects. Partaking in Turkey Drives, the Taste of Pine Hills, and Christmas Eve toy giveaways to the youth of our community are some of our community initiatives.

Future Leaders United After-School Enrichment and Mentoring Program also has an engaging summer enrichment program.
